HORNET TRANSPORT NORTH

FEDEX LOCAL CLASS A P&D POSITION OVERVIEW

A Class A Pickup & Delivery (P&D) driver plays a vital role in the FedEx Ground network, operating tractor-trailers to transport freight between terminals and customer locations. These positions are typically assigned to high-volume or specialized routes that require a Class A CDL and a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities & Features:

  • Equipment Operated: Operates tractor-trailers and combination vehicles, rather than standard delivery vans.
  • Route Structure: Performs multiple daily stops, handling both pickups and deliveries at commercial and industrial locations.
  • CDL Requirement: Requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the ability to safely handle heavy equipment.
  • Operational Role: Serves as a critical link between service centers and FedEx distribution terminals, ensuring freight moves efficiently through the network.
  • Service Scope: Focuses on local and regional routes, contributing to the “final mile” and middle-mile delivery process.
  • We are an equal opportunity Employer

                                                   P&D vs LINEHAUL

Unlike linehaul positions—which primarily involve long-over-the-road runs between terminals—Class A P&D drivers operate in a more localized environment. Their role emphasizes frequent stops, customer interaction, and the timely movement of freight within a defined service area.
